DVD Home Theater System

Have you got a DVD home theater systemhome theater system at home? I have one. It has turned my living room into a dance club. At other times I (or one of my friends) will get some PS 2 Games and enjoy the adventures of virtual world.

Now I think my DVD home theater system is the only electronic entertainment equipment I use. Music player, movie station, PlayStation and what not. The sound is too reverberating that my acoustical ceiling is the only thing that helps me contain the sound. Most of my friends too have DVD players or home theater systems. The only problem I face now is recommending a brand for my friends.

Carpenter Ant Control

When you see that big black ants that creep into wooden structures like windows or sidings, you will think about a solution to this menace. The only solution that quickly comes to your mind will be of using some pesticides.

Pesticides are not always safe. The first thing to keep in mind is to keep the surrounding area clear of any tree waste, soil or food particles that can be used by the carpenter ant colonies as initial settlement. Cut of such initial habitat from near your home. Remove wood (firewood), loose soil or moist particles from near your home. Seal any cracks on the wall, windows, awnings, sidings etc. Another thing to keep in mind is to avoid moisture from the surroundings of your home as much as possible.

Pesticide treatment includes treating carpenter ant infection with some chemicals. Baiting is another method used to remove carpenter ant infection.

Carpet cleaning is indeed a hard task. Carpets do a commendable job at my home, where it somehow manages to withstand most of the scratching attacks by my golden retriever. I need carpet cleaning at least once in a month. Carpet cleaning is not an easy task. For three years, my carpet cleaners are unchanged. I got into contact with them through Florida Home Build and I can now rest assured of hygienically cleaning my carpets with utmost care.

Have you ever heard of Kawasaki syndrome? I have heard it from the carpet cleaners. They advice me not to get into the room for a few hours after the cleaning works. It may be because the carpet cleaning shampoo has some allergic effects on human as well as pet bodies. Anyway there are no such problems in my home till now.

Staining Your Deck

As a home owner, there are many maintenance jobs that I have to perform on a yearly basis. One which is a very rewardning task is staining my back deck. We recently added a section of deck and of course the pressure treated wood is newer and has not been stained. Not only is it visually different than the original deck, whcih has been stained, but I a, to wait until the pressure treated wood has aged a bit. We also within the last two years have painted the enitre house. So not only is our new deck not matching the originally stained deck color, but neither matches the paint color we chose for the house. This is a real eye sore in my wife's eyes.

I noticed that some of the areas of the new decking within the last year had begun to develop some mold in areas. Staining is a great way of killing any mold that develops

I learned from some of the experts in the field that a good maintenance program for your decks and porches require a new coat of stain every two years. This is a great way to keep those colors crisp looking.

So after waiting a full year for the new pressure treated wood to age we have begun the project of stainined the entire back porch. I thought this would be a one day project, but soon I realized that this would take several weekends as there ar lots of surface area that needs to be painted besides the obvious flooring. Plus, each spindle takes much more time than I thought they would. After the first day I see that it is really coming together and will look fabulous once finished.

Within a few weeks the back deck will be stained, and we will be able to enjoy relaxing fall evenings on the back deck with our friends. Little will they know how much time a care was dedicated to the the 'Staining fo the Deck'
